This qualification combines higher-level skin science with four advanced, in-demand treatments, so you finish able to assess complex cases, plan safe treatment journeys, and deliver clinic-standard results under one regulated certificate.

Core Theory Units

Principles of non-surgical aesthetic procedures (UBT508, Level 5) - Understand how the advanced aesthetics sector is structured and your professional, ethical and legal responsibilities as a Level 5 practitioner.

Client assessment for non-surgical aesthetic procedures (UBT509, Level 5) - Carry out thorough, structured consultations, covering medical history, risk assessment and informed consent, so you select safe, appropriate treatments every time.

Advanced skin science for non-surgical aesthetic procedures (UBT510, Level 5) - Deepen your knowledge of skin structure, ageing, pigmentation, inflammation and wound healing, and link it directly to how each treatment works.

Complication management and emergency plan implementation for non-surgical aesthetic procedures (UBT511, Level 5) - Recognise complications early, implement emergency plans with confidence, and protect both your clients and your practice.

Practical Treatment Units

Provide advanced chemical peels for skin rejuvenation (UBT512, Level 6) - Work confidently with advanced and medium-depth peels to target pigmentation, ageing and texture, managing pre-care, aftercare and risk throughout.

Provide advanced skin needling procedures for skin rejuvenation (UBT513, Level 6) - Build on your Level 4 microneedling with deeper, more corrective protocols for scarring, fine lines and full-face rejuvenation, with strict hygiene and consistent technique.

Provide needle mesotherapy procedures for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration (UBT514, Level 6) - Master mesotherapy for both skin and scalp, including injection patterns, depth and active selection, to improve hydration, firmness, brightness and hair density.

Provide light emitting diode (LED) phototherapy for skin rejuvenation (UBT515, Level 5) - Use different LED wavelengths to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation and enhance the results of your other advanced procedures.

You also sit 2 overarching VTCT exams, making 10 units in total. QAN 610/5798/8.

Course Duration - A fast-track programme over 12 weeks: pre-study first (e-learning plus written assignments, due before your practical days), then 4 online webinar days, then 6 practical training days at our Orpington clinic. Your timeline depends on submitting coursework on time and passing your assignments, exams and practical assessments first time.

It is made up of 8 mandatory units covering advanced skin science, client assessment, complication management, advanced chemical peels, advanced skin needling, needle mesotherapy and LED phototherapy, plus 2 VTCT exams.

You can offer advanced chemical peels, advanced skin needling, needle mesotherapy for skin and scalp, and LED phototherapy. Level 5 is also the step before Level 7. With this certificate and a regulated Level 3 Basic Life Support certificate, non-medics can move on to our VTCT Level 7 Diploma or Level 7 Certificate in injectable procedures. No. Level 5 is an advanced skin qualification. It includes needle mesotherapy for skin and scalp, but it does not cover anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. Those are taught on our VTCT Level 7 Diploma and Level 7 Certificate in injectable procedures, and this Level 5 certificate is part of the entry route to them. You need a regulated Level 3 Basic Life Support & Anaphylaxis certificate, which is required, and to be 18 or over. You also need our VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies for Skin Rejuvenation, or both our individual VTCT Level 4 Skin Needling and Level 4 Skin Peeling courses. Yes. Models are always supplied by the college, so you never need to find your own, and you are welcome to bring your own model if you prefer. Classes are capped at 6 learners, so your tutor can guide you on every treatment during your practical training days, before your summative independent assessments.

Yes. This course is open to non-medics who meet the Level 4 entry requirement. VTCT designed this certificate as the step between Level 4 and its Level 7 Certificate and Diploma in Non-surgical Aesthetic Injectable Procedures. For non-medics, our Level 7 Diploma asks for this Level 5 certificate plus a regulated Level 3 Basic Life Support certificate. Medical professionals should ask admissions about their route.

Level 4 builds your foundation in microneedling and chemical peels. Level 5 takes you further, with advanced and medium depth peels, advanced skin needling for scarring and fine lines, needle mesotherapy for skin and hair, and LED phototherapy. You also study advanced skin science, client assessment and complication management, and three of the practical units sit at Level 6.

Possibly. Our RPL route recognises your existing CPD and experience. You should hold CPD accreditation in chemical skin peels, microneedling, mesotherapy and LED light therapy, have 2 years' experience, and be able to provide 10 case studies in each of those treatments.
