Throughout the course, you will learn how to:

• carry out thorough client consultations
• identify skin types and general body types
• recognise different types of fat and common postural faults
• understand contraindications and when treatment may need to be adapted or avoided
• select suitable massage mediums such as oils, creams, or powders based on client needs
• perform classical massage movements
• understand mechanical massage and pre-heat treatments
• adapt treatments to meet the specific needs of the client
• develop knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to massage
• strengthen your client care, communication, and professional practice skills

You then attend 2 practical days at our Orpington clinic, in a group of up to 6 students, where your tutor guides you as you practise body massage on models. Your theory exam is taken remotely online, so it is not a class day. A final day at the clinic is your end point assessment.

You complete an external practical examination, an external theory examination and a portfolio of evidence that includes treatment evidence from 4 treatments. The theory exam is taken remotely online. Your final practical assessment takes place with a VTCT assessor at the end of the course. The qualification is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Yes. We supply models for your practical training, so you work on real clients under the supervision of your tutor. You are also welcome to bring your own model. Your tutor guides you through consultation, choosing a massage medium, classical massage movements and aftercare, so you can build the treatment evidence you need for your portfolio.

You can offer body massage to clients in salons, spas, hotels and resorts, health clubs or your own business, subject to your insurer's requirements. You can add our VTCT Level 3 Awards in Indian Head Massage and Massage using Pre-Blended Aromatherapy Oils. This award does not cover those treatments. Students get 10% off future training with us.
