The VTCT Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work will provide you with the essential skills to manage a range of first aid emergencies, including:

• Basic Life Support: Perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to save lives.
• Wound Care and Bleeding Management: Control external bleeding, dress wounds, and manage shock.
• Musculoskeletal Injuries: Address fractures, sprains, and dislocations.
• Medical Emergencies: Recognise and manage heart attacks, stroke, severe allergic reactions, diabetic emergencies, and asthma attacks.
• Environmental Emergencies: Treat burns, scalds, hypothermia, and heatstroke
• Anaphylaxis Management: Recognise and manage life-threatening allergic reactions.

The qualification prepares you to respond to both minor injuries and major emergencies in the workplace.

Upon successful completion, learners will be certified as first aiders in the workplace, qualified to handle a variety of emergency situations. The qualification is valid for three years, after which learners will need to renew their certification.

The VTCT Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work comprises two mandatory units:

• UFA1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
• UFA2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

The training is delivered through online e-learning and one day onsite training. Upon successful completion of these units, learners will be awarded the qualification.

To successfully achieve the VTCT Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work, learners must complete both practical assessments and produce a portfolio of evidence covering all assessment criteria. These will be assessed by a qualified internal assessor. The assessment methods include:

• Practical observation: Learners will demonstrate their ability to perform first aid tasks in real-life scenarios.
• Portfolio of evidence: Learners must compile evidence from practical work, written questions, case studies, and oral questions.

The qualification is graded as Pass/Fail, with learners needing to meet all assessment criteria to pass.
