Principles of Non-surgical Aesthetic Procedures - Understand how the advanced aesthetics sector is structured and your professional, ethical and legal responsibilities as a Level 5 practitioner.

Advanced Skin Science - Deepen your knowledge of skin structure, ageing, pigmentation, inflammation and wound healing, and link it directly to how each treatment works.

Client Assessment and Consultation - Carry out thorough, structured consultations — medical history, risk assessment and informed consent — so you select safe, appropriate treatments every time.

Complication Management & Emergency Planning - Recognise complications early, implement emergency plans with confidence, and protect both your clients and your practice.

Practical Treatment Units

Advanced Chemical Peels (Level 6) - Work confidently with advanced and medium-depth peels to target pigmentation, ageing and texture, managing pre-care, aftercare and risk throughout.

Advanced Skin Needling (Level 6) - Build on your Level 4 microneedling with deeper, more corrective protocols for scarring, fine lines and full-face rejuvenation, with strict hygiene and consistent technique.

Needle Mesotherapy (Skin & Hair - Level 6) - Master mesotherapy for both skin and scalp — injection patterns, depth and active selection — to improve hydration, firmness, brightness and hair density.

LED Phototherapy - Use different LED wavelengths to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation and enhance the results of your other advanced procedures.

Course Duration - A fast-track programme over 12 weeks, combining guided pre-study with hands-on onsite training. Your timeline depends on submitting coursework on time and passing your assignments, exams and practical assessments first time.

You'll be assessed across four components, all designed around client safety and industry confidence:

Short Answer Assignments (SARs) - externally set by VTCT, internally marked, testing your underpinning theory and professional practice.

External Multiple-Choice Examinations - externally set and marked, covering the mandatory units.

Case Study Portfolio - a set number of case studies per treatment, demonstrating how you apply your skills in practice.

Summative Practical Observations - you're observed performing each procedure and marked against VTCT's criteria for technique, safety and client care.

Your course delivery is a fast-track 12 weeks combining guided pre-study with hands-on onsite training, with full tutor support throughout. Practical training is delivered over four consecutive formative training days. Once all training requirements are met - you will attend two full days of summative assessment.

If you're a non-medic aiming for cosmetic injectables, Level 5 is the required bridge between your Level 4 skin rejuvenation training and a Level 7 injectables qualification. It proves you can already deliver advanced non-surgical procedures and manage complications safely - exactly what Level 7 training builds on.

No. VTCT's pathway is Level 4 → Level 5 → Level 7, in order. Level 5 gives you the higher-level experience in advanced peels, needling, mesotherapy and LED that you need before injectable training. Skipping it isn't permitted, and it would leave you underprepared for Level 7.

No. If you hold CPD accreditation in chemical peels, microneedling, mesotherapy and LED, have around two years' experience and can provide case studies in each area, you may qualify through our RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) route. It converts your existing experience into a fully regulated VTCT qualification without repeating what you already know. Ask us to check your eligibility.
